Cinnamon Rolls

There are not many food traditions in my family, so the traditions I can think of stand out a great deal. The first tradition dealing with food that I thought of was how my mom always prepares cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning. For as long as I can remember there has always been freshly baked cinnamon rolls in the morning on Christmas day. The night before I will walk into the kitchen and see them teasing me as the dough rises and I am unable to eat them.

The funny part about this is that I don't even really like cinnamon rolls. I mean, don't get me wrong, they're pretty good, but they aren't something I would be excited to eat any other day of the year. The tradition has more of an impact on me than the cinnamon rolls themselves. It may have started out being about the cinnamon rolls. Over the years the ritual of the tradition itself has become the most important part of the activity.
